September 2018

The only way to describe this U.S. open is soaking wet without raining…

It’s really hard to play tennis when your socks are soaking wet and you are “sloshing” in your shoes. Your shoes get really heavy when they get wet.

The ice towels. Well if done right they help. Look at Novak’s photo. The ice at back of the neck is gone. All that’s there is a wet towel. The medics out there were icing everywhere. Including his balls…

Ok. Onto balls. The rumor is the U.S. OPEN after 100 something years of using WILSON Balls • will NO longer be using Wilson tennis balls after this year.

Ok. That’s a longer relationship break up than Roger and Nike. And what was that poorly fitting sports jacket that the stylish RF was wearing in the press conference?

Ok. Onto the weather. It is HOT. The OPEN in Flushing is a concrete jungle and then add like 90 percent humidity.

Hello a ten minute break? Really? You try taking off wet clothes. Showering. Drying off re-taping yourself… (deodorant, baby powder, sunscreen) How can you even cool off?

The Break Must be changed to 15/20 minutes. I forgot walking back and forth to changing room.

What fan in the stands wouldn’t appreciate it too ! The fan can go buy another beverage and take a toilet break. TV. Well they can learn to round table or show footage of Arthur Ashe Kids day. Or other filler.

It seems like it had all sorts of confusion as to the rules. And yes, Fernando you probably • maybe were talking to your coaches.

Even Novak admitted to signals with his team. While he was in ice bath next to his opponent he was about to go back out and do battle with. Yikes. Blisters temperature changes. Naked cold baths.

And Mohamed coaching Krygios. And then doing juniors matches on court Siberia… Wow. What a week. And. An ump fell off from his chair sideways. Gosh you don’t miss a trick when the whole world has iPhones in their hands. Ok. Some in their pockets.

All we can say is wow.

Julie Heldman’s book has been the big hit of the U.S. Open. It should be. Sheer brilliance. While sharing the history of the sport and her painful home life. Buy it on AMAZON or the US Open bookstore. It finally tells the true story of how the WTA was formed by GLADYS Heldman.

Ok. Today’s that kind of day. What was with that ridiculous Gray jacket Roger Federer was wearing during the press conference. It looked like the kind a restaurant lends you when a man goes in without one as required… Man that was worse than Ian Tiriac Hall of Fame jacket looked like you could put 2 Tiriacs in one.

Television coverage is very dissapointing from both the U.S. and the U.K. Readers. The requirements for the latest television. Cable box and or dish as well as the costs make it impossible for most followers. The young ones can figure out fire sticks and all sorts of techniques. Dinasaurs to Drones. The Flintstones meet the Jetsons.

Okay. So what else.

Roger Federer turned pro in 1998.

We are in 2018.

How many days did he ever call in sick in 20 years? Not often. His back issues, or the knee. But are you ready? Drumroll… in 1,424 matches Roger started, he finished!

He never once shook hands and said “Sorry, I can’t continue today. [The “Ret” you see with the results (the scores)]

THE ROGER FEDERER ON COURT AGAINST JOHN MILLMAN WAS HURTING ROGER. A MAN WHO AT TIMES COULD BARELY BREATHE. HE PLAYED LIKE A HERO TILL THE END. HE ALWAYS DOES…
