The US Open men's final between Marin Cilic and Kei Nishikori drew a 1.9 rating on CBS, less than any other US Open men's final in figures dating back two decades. That represents about 2.2 million watching on television.

Serena Williams took a record $4 million for winning the US Open, the biggest prize money check that has been given in tennis. Williams got $3 million for winning the US Open, and $1 million for winning the US Open series, with points given for how players perform in warm-up events.
This was a case where you really didn't have to see the match to imagine what happened. You *knew* Serena Williams would produce most of the power, and end most of the points one way or the other, and that Caroline Wozniacki would get lots and lots of balls back until Serena hit either a winner or an error.

Serena Williams has suddenly gotten the urge to use a serving arm sleeve as pioneered by Milos Raonic, fifth seed at the US Open. Though the big-hitting Canadian lost to Kei Nishikori in a fourth-round match which lasted until a record-equaling 2:26 a.m. on Tuesday, Raonic has been making an impression with the colorful sleeve he has been wearing since Miami six months ago.
America has some great tennis players. A whole heap of them. Some still in the juniors to all the way up to players in their mid thirties.
The No. 1 players in the world had to work a little bit of overtime thanks to a five-set marathon between Kei Nishikori and Stan Wawrinka earlier in the day on Wednesday. In the long run, though, it hardly mattered for Serena Williams and Novak Djokovic. Both players won their night-session matches to earn spots in the U.S. Open semifinals.

Serena Williams beat Taylor Townsend 6-3, 6-1, opening play with a win as she goes for a repeat title. But the winner was complimentary of her teenaged opponent. "I think it was an interesting match, she played really well, started out super strong," said Williams.
American women are off to a hot start at the U.S. Open, and a child is leading them. CiCi Bellis, all of 15 years old, upset No. 12 seed Dominika Cibulkova 6-1, 4-6, 6-4 during first-round action on Tuesday afternoon.
