Milos Raonic, currently in 10th in the race for the Barclays ATP World Tour Finals, picked up a much-needed win in the first round of the Swiss Indoors Basel on Tuesday. Raonic, who had dropped his opening matches in both Shanghai and Moscow in part due to a virus, fought past Steve Johnson 7-6(4), 6-4 in one hour and 30 minutes.
Croatian sixth seed Ivo Karlovic spent two and a half hours in defeating Argentine Federico Delbonis 6-7 (1-7), 7-6 (11-9), 7-6 (7-2). Karlovic finished with 29 aces. Serb Viktor Troicki, who served a ban which ended in July for delaying a post-match blood test by 24 hours in 2013, beat Victor Estrella Burgos 6-0, 6-3.
Rafael Nadal and ex-Brazilian footballer Ronaldo will square off at the gaming table in live head-to-head poker match, billed as "The Duel," with Nadal accepting the challenge of the November 6 showdown in London.
Three-time Wimbledon runner-up Andy Roddick is to return to London to make his debut at the Statoil Masters Tennis at the Royal Albert Hall, 3-7 December. Roddick, who won the hearts of British tennis fans when he lost a heart-breaking 16-14 final set to Roger Federer at Wimbledon in 2009, is excited to return.
It was so sad that for the Barclays year end men's tennis championships in 2013 when Andy Murray qualified but couldn't play due to a back surgery. The part that got us was they took his image away in the venue. It maybe didn't belong in and around London. But he deserved his image @ the 02 ARENA.
Rafael Nadal will return to London this November in an attempt to capture his first career season-ending Barclays ATP World Tour Finals title. Nadal joins three-time champion Novak Djokovic as the first two singles players to qualify for this year’s season finale, to be held at The O2 from 9-16 November.
After all the confidence and the hype around one of the fastest rising stars on the WTA, royal connections (albeit by just a name), it was down to the shy former champion to shine while rain clouds threatened, as Petra Kvitova thundered past Canada’s Eugenie Bouchard in straight sets 6-3 6-0 to win a second Wimbledon title.
It was tennis at 2:00 p.m. sharp for the two women who had outlasted all the others at The Championships. On paper, it looked as if the match could be either woman’s prize. But the game isn’t played on paper.

Not often has the United States enjoyed more success on the soccer field than on the tennis court, but that has been the case over the past fortnight. While the American men's national team advanced out of a brutal World Cup group to play Belgium in the round of 16 on Tuesday afternoon, not a single American man or woman reached the fourth round of the Wimbledon singles event.
