The Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) announced today that Czech Republic's Petra Kvitova, Italy's Sara Errani and Serbia's Jelena Jankovic have qualified for this year’s TEB BNP Paribas WTA Championships, to be staged at the Sinan Erdem Dome in Istanbul, Turkey, from October 22-27, 2013.
Early in the second set, Serena Williams seemed to suffer some sort of pain. It let Jelena Jankovic go up 2-1 in the set. But Jankovic then had the trainer out -- and didn't win another game. Not exactly a fun final to watch.
Yawn. Agnieszka Radwanska may be #4, but she really isn't a threat to the top three. Certainly not to Serena Williams, who is going to be #1 for the rest of the year and quite a lot longer....

A year ago Laura Robson took the tennis world by surprise when she knocked former French Open champion Li Na out of the US Open when the British teenager was only ranked 89th in the world.
Na Li, the former French Open champion and fifth seed at next week’s US Open, has always been regarded as something of a firebrand after famously standing up to the Chinese government with demands for a much smaller percentage of her prize money going to the state.
