Juan Martin del Potro is insistent London is one of his favorite places to visit after this summer’s memorable Wimbledon semi-final battle.
Novak Djokovic is riding a high as he continues to challenge Rafael Nadal for year-end world No. 1 status, with that decision coming down to results at the World Tour Finals.
When the first point of this lasted 27 strokes, one of the watchers commented that it was going to be a long afternoon. It might have been a lot longer had David Ferrer been able to hold on to leads.
Is the work load too much? Novak Djokovic is about to find out. The Serb collected his 6th title of the year with a hard-earned 7-5, 7-5 victory over Spain’s David Ferrer in the BNP Paribas Masters...
David Ferrer was determined not to have yet another of his feeble matches against Rafael Nadal. He didn't exactly dominate, but he wasn't broken until he served for the match the first time -- and, having been broken, at once broke back and served it out.
Roger Federer played brilliantly for a while and lost; Rafael Nadal played poorly all match and he lost, too, leaving Novak Djokovic and David Ferrer to battle it out here in Paris on Sunday when the other six, amongst the world’s top players, are preparing for the ATP World finals across the Channel.
As matches go, this was pretty dull. As drama goes, Novak Djokovic is doing his best. Rafael Nadal doesn't need much more to clinch the year-end #1, but Djokovic continues to apply all the pressure he can -- not just winning but winning easily.

I spent a couple of hours this morning writing what I thought was a very nice piece about the one and only way Federer could be kept out of qualifying for London. Simple as one-two-three. It was just math.
There really seems to be something wrong with David Ferrer these days. Half a dozen straight finals blown. And that after leading by a break in the second set. Not even the Spanish crowd could hold him together. He was broken four times.
Back to the final for Juan Martin del Potro, who now has almost a thousand point lead on Tomas Berdych in the contest for a year-end Top Five spot. It still looks as if he could end the year at #4, or even #3.
