We had the two semifinals in Dubai early this morning. This is where we get to find out what kind of shape Federer, Djokovic and Murray are really in and whether or not Del Potro is ready to go another step towards regaining the form he achieved winning the US Open in 2009.
Season III. It's time to return to the little tutorial about the "Tennis Seasons" that I started in Part I of this little series. We got through the first 14 weeks of the year with the 6 weeks of the Aussie Season and 8 weeks of the Season 2. Season 3 starts the spring clay court season with events in Casablanca and Houston and ramps right up to a Masters 1000 in Monte Carlo the third week of April.
The only real question today was who would be the fourth to join this awesome trio. Murray struggled a bit with Berdych giving up 2 breaks on 8 chances, but he controlled the match making 64% of his first serves and winning 14 of the 24 second serve points where he got the serve in.
The top half of the draw in Dubai went completely according to seed today and is likely to do so right up to the final, unless Berdych somehow gets to Murray. The big Czech has lost just 7 games in 2 matches and holds a 3-1 career record against Andy, but he won't be able to save 11 out of 12 break points against the Scotsman as he did today against Lukas Lacko.

The level of the examination being administered in Dubai this week goes up significantly tomorrow. Mardy Fish was the only seed not to make the quarterfinals, losing to Mikhail Youhzny.
