Dorothy “Dodo” Bundy Cheney passed away peacefully at home in La Jolla, California on 23 November following a brief illness. She was 98 years old. Cheney was involved in tennis for the majority of her life, first picking up a racket at a young age and playing the game well into her 90s.

The 42nd annual United States Tennis Association (USTA) National Hard Court Championships will get underway on Monday, December 1 at the La Jolla Beach & Tennis Club, 2000 Spindrift Dr, La Jolla, Calif., 92037. The national tennis event will continue through Sunday, Dec. 7.

She played competitively into her 90s, and her remarkable grace, singular class and competitive spirit made her one of our sport’s greatest ambassadors. She will be sorely missed by the sport that she loved.”
Following the disappointment of 17,500 paying fans when the climax of the Barclays ATP World Tour Finals was curtailed on Sunday by Roger Federer’s injured back, tournament organizers have announced there will be a 60% ticket refund.
