TENNIS CHANNEL WILL HAVE LIVE COVERAGE OF ROGER FEDERER’S MATCH FOR AFRICA 5 SILICON VALLEY

 

20-Time Grand Slam Champion to Play First Match in Bay Area,

Face Top-Ranked American Jack Sock

Bill Gates and Federer as Doubles Partners Against NBC’s Today Host Savannah Guthrie and Sock During Charity Event

 

Tennis Channel will broadcast the Match for Africa 5 Silicon Valley, featuring 20-time Grand Slam champion Roger Federer and top-ranked American Jack Sock, live from San Jose, Calif., on Monday, March 5, at 10:30 p.m. ET. This event will mark the first time Federer has played in the Bay Area, and includes a best-of-three-set match against Sock and a one-set doubles event with Federer and Microsoft founder Bill Gates taking on Sock and NBC’s Today host Savannah Guthrie. Along with the singles and doubles competitions, the exhibition will include fundraising efforts, with all proceeds benefiting the Roger Federer Foundation and children living in poverty in Africa.

 

Federer will face current World No. 10 Sock in a Bay Area that has not seen professional men’s tennis since the 2013 SAP Open. Ted Robinson will announce the matches for Tennis Channel from San Jose’s SAP Center with analyst and former professional player Mark Knowles . Tennis Channel’s coverage begins with the at 10:30 p.m. ET, immediately followed by the Federer and Socks competition.

 

Past Match for Africa events have featured tennis stars Rafael Nadal, Stan Wawrinka, Andy Murray and John Isner. Last year’s exhibition with Isner was in Seattle, the first outside of Zurich, Switzerland, and raised $2 million for the Roger Federer Foundation.
