Roger Federer, Dominic Thiem, Philipp Kohlschreiber und Paolo Lorenzi start on Wednesday at the 24th GERRY WEBER OPEN

Delays in the tournament justice alterations in schedule at HalleWestphalia

Halle in Westphalia (Germany). The eight times GERRY WEBER OPEN champion Roger Federer, along with the winner in Stuttgart Dominic Thiem, finalist in Stuttgart Philpp Kohlschreiber and Paolo Lorenzi, will start the ATP 500 tournament on Wednesday (June 15th). Due to bad weather conditions in Stuttgart the finalists were only able to finish their match on Monday morning. This means they will arrive in HalleWestfalica no sooner than Monday evening.

The tournaments directors also took the physical condition of the 34 year-old superstar into account who has been suffering from a number of injuries this year. “We want to give Roger a longer rest and recovery time so that he can defend his championship title with full power”, tournament director Ralf Weber stated. The ATP rules and regulations allow exceptions such as the weather conditions in Stuttgart so that the first round matches can be extended to even after Montag and Tuesday.

Go to www.gerrywerber-open.de for further details on the tournament and prices. Tickets are available via ticket hotline (0049-5201) 8180 and at all CTS advance booking points.
