French Open 2016

It’s that time of year. Springtime in Paris. The team here @10sBalls is either there, on their way or still packing. Yes, I’m the one still packing and tying up loose ends.

Frankie and Daisy are there. Anita and Lou and Ricky all arrive on Sunday. And me? Soon….

Frankie has already been on site and picked up his credential. He is jet-lagged but what else is new…. tennis players and anyone in professional tennis live in a constant state of jet lag. It goes with the nature of the sport. In what other sport do you fly to Asia five times in a year?

AUSTRALIA? I think Katrina Adams is going for her third or fourth time this year? And it’s not June yet …

We are eagerly awaiting news of Maria Sharapova. There has been little or no news all week. We wish Gael Monfil a speedy recovery. Bad timing getting a viral infection. Caro Wozniacki is still not recovered from her ankle injury. (did she wear heels to the MET GALA?)

Roger Federer after 65 consecutive slams is on the mend with his tricky back. He is not playing in the 2016 French Open. Glad to see he is still playing. We remember when he was hoping to play long enough to play the Olympics at Wimbledon. Well he did! Now four years later and he is still out there with the “puppies” simply Amazeballs!

Speedy recovery Dear Roger we wonder how many matches you’ve played and finished every one? We need to check with Greg SHARKO at the ATP in Florida. Greg knows everything. From big details to small. We know it’s in the thousands. Just not sure… what we are saying is he finished every match that he ever started. He played thru blisters and fevers and hot conditions and cold blustery conditions and cramps and back pain….. Throw in nausea and anything else you’ve ever seen players (RET.) for. (also known as retired during a match.) Not once. EVER. That’s RF in a league of his own. Pure class and style.

TIDBITS:

Meldonium is an “Over The Counter” drug. No prescription required….

John Isners Dad, Bob Isner Is running For Congress in North Carolina….

Jack Sock is running for President Maybe The “Trumpster” might have a competitor he can’t insult so much…. Let’s make tennis great again!!!

FYI all the Americans in Paris keep getting asked the same questions about the “TRUMPSTER”… Like, how did he get so far along on the campaign trail? Like, are you voting for him? We think our GEEZER came up with this name for him….

If stadiums are getting larger why can’t sponsor logos and patches get larger too?….. Just a thought…

Why is “Ray” Raymond Moore still at the Indian Wells Tennis Gardens? Did he miss the memo? Is it that the construction of toilets on the third level are keeping him there to see its done right? Can you imagine they never put toilets on the top level? No one up there needs to pee? Just saying…

Time for me to pack for the fortnight. Hope we see some sunny pretty weather. We know we will have great tennis. Great Food. And great hospitality at the venue. The staff there is Top Notch. Kind, intelligent and thoughtful.

Oh. We almost forgot. Who saw Novak grab the chair umps arm? He was disputing where and which ball mark the chair ump was looking at. Novak was certain it was the wrong one. Sorry but that was an automatic match is over for most sports. Tennis? Got to ask Sharko that one too.

But really Novak that was totally uncool. And imagine if Nick Krygios had done it. He would be suspended for Displaying such bad sportsmanship. Only thing weirder was Novak having broken strings and trying to play… How can you not feel and notice one busted string in your racket…. His had like three busted strings? Just saying…

The only way to describe this U.S. open is soaking wet without raining... It's really hard to play tennis when your socks are soaking wet and you are "sloshing" in your shoes. Your shoes get really heavy when they get wet.
