Grigor Dimitrov was only minutes removed from a 6-4, 6-4 win over Sergiy Stakhovsky, but the Bulgarian baseliner was already anticipating his next encounter at the Swiss Indoors Basel.

And who could blame him. After all, the 24-year-old had just booked a second-round encounter with 27-time ATP World Tour Masters 1000 titlist Rafael Nadal, a seemingly indomitable force against whom he’s 0-6 in FedEx ATP Head2Head match-ups.

“I’m already looking forward to tomorrow’s match,” said Dimitrov. “The excitement is building up.”

Dimitrov never faced a break point his his win over Stakhovsky on Tuesday, winning 25 first-serve points to go along with five aces.

Teaming up for the first time since reaching the quarter-finals of the Aegon Championships in London in June, Rafael Nadal and Marc Lopez scored a 6-1, 4-6, 10-5 win over the first-time pairing of Borna Coric and Viktor Troicki at the Swiss Indoors Basel.

Nadal/Lopez converted three of four break points in the one-hour and nine-minute contest, winning 68 percent (26 of 38) of their first-serve points.

Nadal has won four of his nine ATP World Tour doubles titles with his fellow Spaniard. They will next face Jean-Julien Rojer/Horia Tecau, 7-6(4), 7-6(2) winners over Leonardo Mayer/Andreas Seppi.

Also advancing on the doubles court in Basel were Dominic Inglot/Robert Lindstedt (d. Robin Haase/SergiyStakhovsky 6-1, 6-4).
