Things are heating up in Australia and this summer it’s not the bright sun or heat index or my thermometer. Or outside temperature. Yes, we are close to the equator and need our sunnies. Yes , all the clothing is hot pick and yellow all more reasons to wear “sunnies”.

But for real. What happened to JOHN ISNER ? The big guy is bothered by the heat….It wasn’t that hot. The big guy that fought thru the longest match in tennis history lost to Gilles Muller from Luxembourg Muller won in straight sets. 7-6,7-6,6-4. All we can say is ouch. We are thinking other things. Lots of them start with his new coach ? Ok I said it. ….But once Big John is in a tie breaker with his 6’10” frame and wingspan and missiles of a serve he wins the breakers. ….he didn’t ! He did serve a match total of 30 aces to 24 aces. Too bad you don’t win on aces. Remember when the U.S. Open had this whole ad campaign Andy Roddick and his “MOjo ” Gilles the giant killer took him out too.

STAN THE MAN is doing exactly what a defending champion wants. Which is to quietly move thru the draw and get himself back into the second week and a fully all the way thru. He beat Nieminen 6-4,6-2,6-4. All business. All great to not wear himself out.

Feliciano Lopez took out Jerzy Janowicz 7-6,6-4,7-6. He is also still in the doubles with Max Mirnyi. Maybe he is looking for a double play. Singles and dubs championships ?

Novak Djokovic is going thru without much difficulty. He beat Fernando Verdasco 7-6 (10-8) 6-3,6-4. He started the event feeling a little under the weather. But he is on course now. As Dusan would say. IDEMOOO. Which translates to LETS GO ! Can’t wait to see baby Stefan.

Kei NISHIKORI took out the American everyone talks about for being a great guy. That would be Californian Stevie Johnson 6-7,6-1,6-2,6-3. We hear thru everywhere that both he and his dad are great guys. Someday we will meet. Actually Kei is really another nice guy. Everyone in Bradenton , Florida likes the guy.
