Wozniacki Says No More Marathons Until Finished With Tennis

Caroline Wozniacki maintains she is done with running any more marathons until her tennis career is over and she now intends to concentrate on winning that long overdue first Grand Slam event title.

The Dane ran the New York City Marathon at the beginning of November and recorded a more than credible time of 3 hours 26 minutes 33 seconds around the 26.2 miles long course, raising the small matter of more than $81,000 for Team for Kids charity.

Wozniacki’s New York time meant she qualified for the Boston Marathon, annually run in April. However she is committed to tennis at that time and said: “I’ve done one marathon and for now that’s enough.”

After playing in the International Premier Tennis League for the Dubai-based United Emirates Royals, 24 year-old Wozniacki is concentrating on making a strong start to the 2015 season.

“For now I am very happy to be playing tennis and I am focusing on that,” said Wozniacki who enjoyed a strong second half to 2014, ending the year ranked world no.8 after slipping down to 18th position, her lowest ranking since 2010, in the spring. She reached her second US Open final and progressed to the semifinals of the WTA Finals in Singapore after making a late run for qualification.

“I have done one marathon and would definitely like to do another one. Maybe after my tennis career ends I might do another one or even try my hand at triathlons. That would be a really good challenge.”
