Venus Williams: “First off I have to say wow, this is the first time I’ve ever won a match in Canada since I turned professional 20 years ago – I never imagined I would get to the finals of this tournament. And I have to congratulate Agnieszka on a wonderful tournament and a wonderful final. I can’t wait until we play again – I’m sure that will be many, many times in the future.”

Sara Errani: “It was a difficult match. We didn’t play unbelievable tennis, but some of that is because they played so well. Mirza on the baseline was very good, as always. Cara at the net, of course, put pressure on us on the baseline. We had a very close first set, and were down 5-4, 30-all. If we lost that, it could have changed the match. It was a good match.”

Roberta Vinci: “This is our first title here, so of course we are happy. We try our best in every single match. Today we didn’t play our best, but we won, which is the most important thing.”
