MCENROE, HENMAN, PHILIPPOUSSIS, BAHRAMI TO STAR AT ROYAL ALBERT HALL

John McEnroe, Tim Henman, Mark Philippoussis and Mansour Bahrami are just some of the stars that will light up the Royal Albert Hall at the Statoil Masters Tennis, 3rd – 7th December.

Henman will take on 2003 Wimbledon runner-up Mark Philippoussis in the ATP Champions Tour event. McEnroe, who won the older Legends event last year, will again face champions of his era, with the full field still to be announced for the IMG-owned event.

“I’ve played the Statoil Masters Tennis at the Royal Albert Hall almost every year since it began in 1997,” said McEnroe. “That’s because It’s one of the most beautiful places in the world to play tennis, the acoustics are incredible, and I’ve won it a number of times. I’m already looking forward to getting back there in front of the great crowds they have, and to try to win it again.”

Henman agreed: “The Royal Albert Hall is a little like Wimbledon in that it has history around every corner and down every corridor,” he said. “To play tennis there is a real thrill. The fans that come to watch us at the Statoil Masters really appreciate the sport, and we love to have the chance to perform in front of them. It’s always competitive, we all still want to win, but we are able to play with less pressure now, and so we can engage with the crowd and enjoy it much more.”

Tim Henman.

Bahrami, who leaves so many people with a smile when they depart, will return once more as part of the doubles field. He is probably one of the GREATEST players of all time. Unfortunately visa restrictions and lack of resources kept him from opportunities. He will be the man you remember you saw that night. His tricks are endless. He can hold more tennis balls in his hand than anyone. He can shoot the ball sky high and have it drop into his pocket. Go see for yourselves. Buy tickets now.

The Statoil Masters Tennis has enjoyed record ticket-sales so far in 2014.
