Pancho maybe at Eastbourne but I’m in tennis in wonderland. The day was gorgeous and the setting so elegant it reminds one of days gone by. If you are London check the website below for some AMAZING tennis all week. It’s posh it’s an ver intimate setting to see the worlds best get ready for next week.

Bathed in warm sunshine, The Boodles at Stoke Park got off to a great start with quality tennis and entertainment.

Ernests Gulbis d. Milos Raonic 76(3) 76(5) – 1hr 40 mins

Ernests Gulbis

“I like to return to the Boodles because it is a great practice time for Wimbledon. We don’t get a lot of hitting time there, so here its really good – you have as many hours as you want before match, after match, during match. The grass courts here are good.”

Kevin Anderson d. Dominic Thiem 64 76(7) – 1hr 23 mins

“I feel my preparations for Wimbledon are going well this year. I feel like I have made progress each year on the grass. Compared to last year, I feel a bit more comfortable on the grass. I played some good matches at Queens last week, I played a good first set in my quarter final match against Stepanek but then didn’t play the last two sets but I learnt a few lessons from there so improving on one or two things this week. It is a great opportunity to do that this week and get ready for the big show next week.

Its great to be back here at the Boodles, I played here in 2008 so it was quite a number of years ago so I was really happy to get the invite back this year. I think its a great week of being able to prepare for Wimbledon, getting out here and playing a match in match-like conditions. Sometimes its pretty hard to come by practice courts on the grass and I get the best of both worlds of playing a match but also taking it easier and not having to travel this week”

Dominic Thiem

“My own expectations are not that high for Wimbledon to be honest because I need to learn a lot on grass and its not my surface at all, so that is why I am here to improve my game on grass and I think its getting better.

Jack Sock d. John Isner 76(7) 26 12-10

John Isner

“So far so good in my preparations for Wimbledon. It’s one of my favourite times of the year, it’s a special tournament. For me, I’ve actually never done too well there, but I know I can do well so I’m going to try to do it this year.

The grass courts here are very similar to Wimbledon so that’s very important, that’s why you see a lot of very good players playing this event every year.

This place is beautiful, people are great. It’s great practice the week before Wimbledon. I always enjoy my time here, it’s one of the reasons I’ve been back here for three years.”
