The sight of Maria Sharapova carrying the Olympic torch into the Sochi opening ceremony was truly beautiful. How exciting for Maria and her family for such an honor. Maria was born in Sochi but left as a child to pursue her tennis career. What was called back in the day “a KODAK moment ” which would today would be called an ” Instagram moment” . It’s just one of the high of your life.

 

Popular tennis court announcer Andrew Krasny is in Cleveland , Ohio for the Fed Cup. The USA will face a tough team from Italy. Mary Jo has her work cut out for herself and her team. Andrew is Loved and Adored by all the players. No one makes the players smile and relax during an on court interview like Andrew. He is a family member on the world tour and a great friend to 10sballs and tennis.

 

Great to see the Powershares series of legends tennis tour has something for everyone. The basic starting ticket price is 25 dollars. Or you can buy tickets for VIP with meet and greet with the players. Bravo Powershares. Looking forward to Andy Roddicks first match.

 

Tennis tickets in general need to be priced lower. And have junior prices. And Kids. And Seniors. And Military. Discount the sport. But still have your high end perks for those that support the sport. The sponsors. The super fans. The industry. No portion of any tennis ticket should go to the players prize money. That should all come from sponsors. tennis events should be priced similar to the cost of a film. From there charge more for your better seats and lower levels. Sell seats like they get resold by the location. Most events the most costly tickets are Front row . Ok. That makes sense. But the second row is asked to pay the same price ? Is that right ?

 

We see that Serena Williams has decided not to play Indian Wells. We here @10sballs_com never gave that more than a 50/50 Shot. We still think it’s the same old story. She wants appearance money ? Maybe the big stars that sell out the house should get a cut of the action ?

 

Tennis lost A huge fan, world renown restaurateur Jimmy Murphy passed away. Jimmy played daily. He used the sport to network Hollywood to back and support his restaurant in Beverly Hills . Jimmy left Ireland in his early teens to pursue the hospitality industry. He was a frequent fan at tennis in the Indian Wells event as well as Wimbledon whenever he could squeeze it in. He was sure to always get in a morning hit at Queens Club to start any day in London.

 

Happy 2 year birthday to Michaela Bryan. She celebrated with Mom and Dad and new baby Bro. Bobby Blair Bryan.

 

Saw photos of Stevie Johnson thanks to the Asics tennis newsletter. Amazing legs on that kid. He has those awesome knee muscles. Well developed for volleying and keeping your knee from torquing. Smart kid. Oh yeah. USC graduate.

 

Big congrats to TENNIS CHANNEL for all the great Davis Cup and Fed Cup coverage.Lots of ties televised instead of just USA versus whoever …..

 

Q. Does Rafa have a stomach flu or is he a good actor ? Argentina looked nicer in December (2013) when he collected $$$$$$$ …? Just asking.
