Bernard Tomic to the Guardian on Britain’s Dan Evans, who upset him at the 2013 US Open: “Dan needs to break into the top 100 to be considered anywhere close to me. . . Madison Keys says that she and the rest of the US players feels for compatriot Melanie Oudin, who is suffering from rhabdomyolysis, which might be caused by too much exertion and can lead to extensive kidney damage. “When we found out, it was weird, and we miss her and we are hoping she gets better soon to get on road,” Keys said. . . Stone Real Estate Holdings Ltd., a Clearwater company sold the Serendipity Tennis Club at 3600 Torrey Pines Blvd. in Sarasota to Sarasota Tennis Holdings Ltd. for $2.1 million. The club consists of a 30,726-square-foot clubhouse, 19 tennis courts, a junior Olympic size swimming pool and a 5,500-square-foot gym. Petrik paid $2.4 million for the facility in March 2001. . . USTA Player Development chief Patrick McEnroe defended his program to USA Today: “I’m not sure any federation or any governing body can be responsible for a Serena Williams, a John McEnroe or a Roger Federer,” he said. “What we can control or impact is more really good, solid players. If you do that, you set the stage for those that have more ability and potential to max out. I feel right now we are going to be able to do that in next 12 to 24 months.” . . . Tomas Berdych as to whether the Big 4 is due for a fall: “We are getting closer and closer to them and really it’s not easy at all, I mean we are in the best era of tennis that’s ever been, but I’m quite confident that it’s not going to be better than this. I’m trying to get as close as possible, try to win some of the matches with those top guys and then if one day it’s going to be good enough to maybe win a Slam then I think it’s going to be more appreciated then the years before. Because to get through all the tournaments with those names it’s really a tough one.” . . . Tsvetana Pironkova on reaching her first career final in Sydney: “A milestone. This is something I’ve been dreaming about for a long time now and something that I’ve been missing, to go to the final or even have a title.”

Austin World TeamTennis To Play At Cedar Park Center

The Austin Aces Mylan World TeamTennis team have decided to play their matches at the Cedar Park Center. The Aces will join the Texas Stars minor league hockey team and Austin Toros CBA basketball team as tenants in the arena, which seats 8,500.

The Aces will play seven home matches this coming season at Cedar Park Center, which will be configured to seat 5,500 fans for the tennis matches. That is more than some WTA Premier level evens and ATP 205s seat.

The Cedar Park Center is trying to line up a corporate sponsor to purchase naming rights. A consulting deal has been signed with New York City-based Legends, a sports branding company, to find a partner interested in the center, but it has yet to come to fruition.

Cedar Park Center has tried to find a corporate partner before, but has failed to do so. It was opened in 2009 for a cost of $55 million and is owned by the city and operated by Hicks Cedar Park LLC.

John Lloyd has been named as the coach of the team, which features the now retired former No. 1 Andy Roddick.

Texas entrepreneur Lorne Abony bought the Orange County WTT franchise and moved it to Texas. Aboney is a former chairman of Austin’s Mood Media.

Roddick has an ownership position in WTT, as does Venus Williams.
