Roger Federer will compete in a few warm up of Australian tournaments when he headlines at the Brisbane International as top seed starting four days after Christmas. The world No. 6 who began a comeback to form during the closing stages of the just concluded 2013 ATP campaign, has not been to Queensland since a family holiday as a teenager with his parents nearly two decades ago.

The winner of nine of his last 13 matches of 2013 has been working hard on fitness and testing new racquet heads at his base in Dubai and is due to fly with his wife and twin daughters to Brisbane within days.

“For me, it was clear for me that hopefully one time down the stretch I’m also going to go to Brisbane, especially now that it’s such a good advantage. I know that Pat (Rafter’s) from there, the arena is named after him, I used to play against him,” Federer told Australian media.

“I vacationed in Brisbane as well when I was about 14 years old, so for me it’s something I was really excited about, and maybe also just coming down early with the family is something we’re looking forward to, to keep it simple, ‘let’s just go to Australia, settle down, and then go from there and play a nice good tournament.”

The 2013 campaign was the least productive in a decade for the 32-year-old, with Federer winning only one title and losing 10 of his 14 matches against fellow top 10 opponents.

Roger Federer fans world wide say on paper it might have been a so/so year but our hero still looks great ! So we are hoping 2014 is a great year for Roger.
