Andre Silva, the ATP World Tour’s Chief Player Officer and Tournament Director of the Barclays ATP World Tour Finals for the last two years, will have a career change for the start of 2014 and is linking up with Roger Federer’s manager Tony Godsick.

Brazilian born Silva has been with the ATP World Tour since 2000 and, based at Ponte Vedra in Florida, he has been an integral part of the hierarchy under successive chief executives Mark Miles, Etienne de Villiers, Adam Helfant and the late Brad Drewett.

It is understood Silva was not a candidate for the vacancy of Executive Chairman and President at the head of the tour that was last week finally filled by ATP World Tour Finals Managing Director Chris Kermode, with whom he worked closely. And Silva had been at pains to point out his decision Kermode’s appointment has nothing to do with his exit.

Silva will relocate from Florida to Cleveland Ohio and the brief is understood to be to expand the company Godsick formed when he and Federer left IMG nearly 18 months ago.

Only last month, world no.5 Juan Martin Del Potro announced he was ending his long-standing collaboration with Ugo Colombini and from now on Godsick will handle his management.

Silva played college tennis at Anderson University in South Carolina where he earned a Sports Management degree. He has been the ATP’s Chief Player Officer since January 2007 and the Tournament Director of the Barclays ATP World Tour Finals since June 2012.

Prior to that, Andre spent two years leading the Player Relations Department as its Vice President. His brief as Chief Player Officer was to oversee both the Player Relations and Medical Services departments and also works directly with the Player Council, which obviously brought him into contract with the body’s president Federer.

Silva was also involved in the day-to-day operations of the Challenger Circuit, being the liaison for the Latin American challenger events and member of the Challenger Committee.
