Australia’s Channel Ten has dropped coverage of the Hopman Cup because they couldn’t agree on scheduling. . . Stanislas Wawrinka has confirmed his participation in the Aircel Chennai Open, India’s only ATP World Tour tennis event, starting December 30. . . Martina Hingis will be back to play singles in Adelaide but only in an exhibition legends match against former Australian pro Nicole Bradtke at the 2014 World Tennis Challenge to be held January 7-9 at Memorial Drive Tennis Centre. . . Serbian Davis Cup physician Dr. Zdeslav Milinkovic claims that during the Davis Cup doubles rubber last Saturday that Novak Djokovic was put through an anti-doping procedure that took five hours and because of that he was unable to be on the bench cheering his teammates for much of the match. “It was the ultimate abuse of an athlete and beyond the domain of the profession , codes and ethics,” Milinkovic said. “It bothers me personally , but Novak did it without any objections. Everything was below human dignity and basic culture.” . . . Croatian tennis player Ivan Dodig got married Saturday to his longtime girlfriend Maja Cubela in his birthplace of Medjugorje in Bosnia and Herzegovina. . . Bernard Tomic confirmed he will defend his Apia International Sydney title at Sydney Olympic Park Tennis Centre from 5 to 11 January 2014. . . Longtime Serbian Davis Cup team member Nenad Zimonjic has been honored with the 2013 Davis Cup Award of Excellence. The award was presented during a special on-court ceremony at the 2013 Davis Cup World Group Final between Serbia and the Czech Republic in Belgrade, Serbia on Saturday, November 16. It was presented by ITF President Francesco Ricci Bitti and Serbian tennis great Slobodan Zivojinovic, a past recipient of the award. The annual award is given jointly by the International Tennis Federation (ITF) and the International Tennis Hall of Fame, and it recognizes a Davis Cup player, past or present, who demonstrates a strong commitment to the spirit of the competition.
