Rafael Nadal and David Ferrer met on court for the third time in three weeks as the pair of Spaniards played an exhibition in tennis-starved Peru. The weekend hit-out at the Jockey Club in the capital of Lima was massive for the South American nation with little tennis heritage but an evident hunger to see the top Latin stars in person.

Nadal flew in by private jet from Richard Branson’s Caribbean island of Necker after last week’s hit-and-giggle week in the tropics hosted by the Virgin billionaire for some of the tennis world elite. Nadal and Ferrer drew crowds for every activity in Peru, with outings including autograph sessions, meetings with hospital patients and junior tennis clinics.

“This gives me the chance to know different places that I didn’t have the chance to visit in the past, “said Nadal, who also wants to see a few of the local sights. “This gives me the chance to visit people that are very difficult to visit for me around the world.”

The unofficial match was the seventh meeting of the season between the top five pair, with Nadal winning their last at the London season wrap-up event a week after Ferrer beat him in the Paris Bercy semis.

Nadal will pick up more extra cash later when he faces Novak Djokovic within days in South American for more exhos once Djokovic can leave following the weekend Davis Cup final in Belgrade.
