Many of the world’s Top 8 singles players and doubles teams, including the likes of Juan Martin del Potro, Tomas Berdych, Richard Gasquet and Stanislas Wawrinka, hit the red carpet last night for the official Barclays ATP World Tour Finals Gala, at the Natural History Museum in London. The event, supported by Moët & Chandon, raised £410,000 for Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity.

The Gala officially launched the 2013 Barclays ATP World Tour Finals – the year-end climax to the men’s professional tennis season, to be played 4-11 November at The O2 – and raised vital funds for the new respiratory ward at Great Ormond Street Hospital. Now in its third year, this year’s Gala brought the total raised for the charity to an incredible £1.2 million since 2011.

The evening was hosted by John Inverdale and Olivia Wayne and guests enjoyed exclusive performances from X Factor winner Matt Cardle and the AllStars Collective.

An exclusive auction was held on the night, with lots including a chance to meet the Barclays ATP World Tour Finals champion and a rare gold-leaf Methuselah of Moët & Chandon signed by the players on the red carpet.

Leander Paes, who will be playing with Radek Stepanek, said, “It is great to be at an event like this. I would really to thank the ATP and Great Ormond Street Hospital for not only putting on a great show tonight, but for also inspiring us. Inspiring us to continue to be good role models, and to be the best that we can be for the children.”

Andre Silva, Tournament Director, Barclays ATP World Tour Finals, said: “The Gala has been another terrific success, and a great way to welcome many of the world’s best players to London ahead of next week’s Barclays ATP World Tour Finals. We’re very proud to have helped raise more than £400,000 for Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity for a third consecutive year, and would like to thank all those who gave so generously on the night in support of such a worthy cause. We look looking forward to another spectacular season finale at The O2 over the next eight days.”

Neal Donnelly, Director of Corporate Partnerships at Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity said: “We’d like to thank the ATP, Moët & Chandon and other event sponsors for their continued support and generosity.

“The money raised will go towards a much needed new respiratory ward at Great Ormond Street Hospital, providing state-of-the-art facilities to match the expertise of our medical teams and ensure that we can provide exceptional care to patients with complex respiratory disorders from across the UK.”

The Barclays ATP World Tour Finals has welcomed more than one million fans to The O2 arena over the past four years, establishing itself as the biggest indoor tennis tournament in the world since moving to London in 2009.
