Former top 10 Joachim “Pim-Pim” Johansson qualified for the Stockholm Open, his first ATP event in two years. . . One prominent Swiss tennis writer speculated that the reason why Roger Federer ended his relationship with coach Paul Annacone was the American “was committed to giving Federer the highest level of experience and tactical execution, but now Federer is struggling with much more mundane things like self-confidence or back pain. He does not need more tactical top coaches.” . . . Caroline Wozniacki wrote to WTA CEO Stacy Allaster about the Linz tournament giving Angelique Kerber a late wild card. Kerber then grabbed the last spot in the upcoming WTA Championships in Istanbul, which Wozniacki wanted. “I do not understand that you can suddenly change the draw and allocate of wildcards that way,” Wozniacki told the Danish Newspaper Ekstra Bladet. “I wrote to Stacey, but I have not got a proper answer.” . . . Wozniacki also denied she has split with her longtime boyfriend Rory McIlroy. “I’m so tired of the rumors,” she said. “They occur every time Rory and I are apart a few days or do not write on Twitter, All is well, and there’s not much more to say about it. I just want to be allowed to live my life off the court without all the speculation.” . . . Former Liberian president Charles Taylor, who is a convicted war criminal, says he enjoys playing tennis with fellow inmates at The Hague. . . The V-Grid Tennis Fest Featuring the Bryan Brothers raised more than $100,000 for both the Ventura County Junior Tennis Association and the Santa Barbara Tennis Patrons, as well as other local causes and regional charities supported by the Bryan Bros. Foundation.
