Watching the mens final today. What a great show for tennis. In the middle of the third set, I thought Rafa was cooked. It seemed like Nole had solved the puzzle. Those returns at Rafa’s feet were unreal. But once he survived that triple breaker at 4-4, 0-40 in the third, the psychological blow was too much of a momentum changer to overcome. I think Djokovic ran out of gas just a little bit. Amazing show. Tennis players have never demonstrated the total package to the degree these two have: strength, endurance, speed and skill administered with a great deal of strategic and tactical intelligence. Easy to make a case that the top tennis players are the best athletes in the world. First, they train like it. And then they perform like it.
