Azarenka Wins Match At 0 And 0 And Wants To Improve

epa03839795 Victoria Azarenka of Belarus reacts after losing a point to Dinah Pfizenmaier of Germany during their match on the second day of the 2013 US Open Tennis Championship at the USTA National Tennis Center in Flushing Meadows, New York, USA, 27 August 2013. The US Open runs through Monday 09 September, a 15-day schedule for the first time EPA/JOHN G. MABANGLO  |

Victoria Azarenka had little reaction to her love-love thrashing of her first-round opponent at the US Open, with the second seed only worried about improving her already devastating form..

“The first match is out of my way. Now I can focus on the next one work a little bit on my game and come back for the next round. Overall I had that great feeling that you feel when you go out there. I couldn’t wait. I was warming up, all pumped up. Night session is always special in New York. Just playing in New York is always special for me.”

The amped up Belarussian second seed spelled a list of improvements she wasn’t sot make in her game before the second round with Canadian Aleksandra Wozniak, returning after nearly a year out with a shoulder injury and playing her third match in 12 months.

“I always find things that I want to do better,” said two-time Australian Open winner Azarenka. “I think my game should be a little bit sharper, few mistakes. The execution should be a little bit more the way I want it.

“But this was a good start. Mentally, it was important to stay tough, to stay focused. That’s most important. The game is there; just need to shape it up a little bit.”
