French Fed Cup Captain Advises Bartoli To Reconsider Retirement

Guy Forget, the former French Davis Cup and Fed Cup captain implored Wimbledon champion Marion Bartoli to think again about her decision to retire from tennis with immediate effect. “Marion is a very smart girl, she is so dedicated about the sport that I’m always very cautious about someone’s quote right after a defeat, and that happened right after she lost,” said Forget.

“I hope she is going to change her mind. You don’t want to have regrets looking back. Being a professional player is such an exceptional job and you don’t want to look back in a few months or years later and think ‘why did I stop?’

“My message would be ‘Don’t rush it. Take time, go to the beach for a few days, go running in the park, just get your head together, spend some time with your friends. And, if you don’t want to play the next week, just don’t play it, if you want to miss the US Open, fine, but just don’t quit, don’t take such a radical decision only a few weeks after winning the biggest tournament in the world.”

Editor’s Note : Cincinnati Is A Good Place To Be

For Marion Bartoli it was a good place to retire ? For most of my life I’d hear the title. Why. Cause that’s where Lovey’s  people were from. The Mills  Brothers  were from Ohio too. But since when is Cincy the place to hang up a career ?

Poor Marion is just so tired. She won Wimbledon. It won’t sink in for awhile. She could parlay that win into sponsorship deals.$$$$.  She could have waited till she got to NYC and the US Open. But typical of her Mensa mind she is frazzled and worn out. She should just take a rest. She should be better advised as to the lost opportunities. $$$$$

Either way we wish her well. She certainly had a rocky road and worked hard. Good luck . And Tommy would say. There’s something about Cincinnati and the river and asparagus ….
