Serena Williams said that she decided to put more blonde dye in her hair this week at Roland Garros, but didn’t remember that she went all blonde in her 2002 title run in Paris. She added that Aga Radwanska, who has gone all blonde, didn’t exactly inspire her. “No, I wasn’t, but I thought about it.  I thought about it.  I was like, Gosh, I’m copying Agnieszka.  But she’s really sweet, so I wouldn’t mind copying her. . .

Svetlana Kuznetsova says that she isn’t affected by pressure because she’s grounded in reality. “Sometimes I can be very good,” she said. “Sometimes I just have bad days.  I’m just a human being, maybe even more than other people.” . . .

Tommy Haas says that the reason why elder players like himself, Tommy Robredo, David Ferrer and Roger Federer were able to advance to the French quarters is  “we all just are smarter, about how you train, about how you eat, about how you do your recovery.’ Haas was asked whether he trained more than the younger players and responded, “I hope not.” Haas also enjoyed watching Mikhail Youzhny smash his rackets into pieces during his win over the Russian. “I love that stuff,” he said. “ I enjoy seeing some of the that stuff, emotions, let it out there.  It’s not always fun to just see somebody in cool, cool state of mind.  It’s fun.  It’s nice.  He’s done some crazy stuff in the past, when he hit the racquet on his head.  I was not hoping for that again, but that was fun to see.” . . .

Nicolas Almagro said having Robredo come from two sets down against him was in all likelihood the hardest day of his life. . .

Richard Gasquet denied reports that he asked the FFT to put his match against StanWawrinka on Court Suzanne Lenglen: “Stop with that,” he said. . .

Jaime Hampton will head to Birmingham to begin her grass court campaign but Sloane Stephens will go home to get some R&R. . .

Jelena Jankovic says that one of the reasons why she is playing well again is her older brother Stefan, who was her hero growing up, is helping coach her.

P.S.
Thank you Tennis  Channel . The tennis everywhere APP  is fantastic. Totally amazing gift you gave the world. Especially the tennis followers that can’t get the channel via their cable networks.

Yes it’s a free app ! Another fantastic free APP is the world famous top coach Sven Groenevelds  new APP. It’s getting rave reviews from all the coaches and players of all levels. The word is . Surprise. Why because Sven shares  his secrets with the world. Svens  APP is GPStennis.

Smartphones on court ? Seems like the players are pulling them out of their bags to take photos of ball marks on the clay. So far the smartphones proved the chair umps wrong twice ! I know that one of the Bryan Brothers did it. Last I heard the silly ATP was fining 2k for that. Wish the ATP was more fun and fan friendly and practical.

The 2013 Roland Garros also known as #RG13 has been fantastic. So if you haven’t tuned in yet ,you must. Sometimes it’s hard to find on which network but look it up and check it out. All the tv commentators talk too much. I have a good idea. Lets just hear them talk while the ball isn’t in play and to please not talk about so much more than the match we are trying to enjoy. Simple.
