Day 9 RG13 - Sven's Blog   |

Full transition has taken place and started with a full practise session with Ayumi Morita in the synthetic grass! There are 2 courts tucked away at end of Roland Garros behind court 18!

A lot of players are making the transition to Gras and the main focus is on lowering the center of gravity and as many would say prepare early for a faster/lower bouncing ball. I prefer to say you have to start looking for the ball earlier and pay attention on how your opponents prepare and anticipate earlier!

This helps a lot in the transition from Clay to Grass and the synthetic grass lends its self really well for this! Ayumi hit with a Japanese junior player named Jumpei Yamasaki a 16 year old talented player!

Afterwords I had a meeting in the adidas lounge talking about how to integrate technology into our scouting activities!

From there it was full on with watching juniors from around the Globe battling it out! The biggest surprise came from the number 1 seed (he had beaten stepanek in the 1st round of the maindraw) he lost his 2nd round match in the juniors.

I also enjoyed watching Fernando Verdasco go through a tough workout after his win in doubles! He is going to have a strong remainder of the year! Keep an eye on Fernando!

An interesting aspect that many of the tennis fans don’t realize is when the conditions change the players will have to adapt! Just like today when the wind was picking up at the end of the day and when the flags are flying above the stadium court the wind below on the court goes into a different direction! It becomes even more challenging if their is a change of direction of the wind during a match or even a point and playing on a big stadium becomes even more complicated than it already is!

Many young players loose their rhythm/timing and have a tough playing their game! today the experienced and powerful players among the women took full advantage of the wind!

Keep one eye on the ball and the other on the wind when you are watching tennis during the coming days!
