Ivan Lendl International Junior Tennis Academy (Ivan Lendl IJTA) – led by the former No.1 player in the world and coach to U.S. Open Champion Andy Murray – will host a two-day event in Richmond May 10-11.

Festivities begin on Friday, May 10 with a cocktail reception at Raintree Swim & Racquet Club (Raintree). Lendl, Director of Instruction at Ivan Lendl IJTA and winner of eight Grand Slams, will be in attendance with proceeds benefitting local juniors from the Richmond Tennis Association as well as the Junior Champions Foundation.

Saturday, May 11 kicks off with junior clinics (ages 10-18) at Raintree on its four indoor tennis courts. Alongside Lendl, Rob Castorri (Ivan Lendl IJTA Executive Director), Alfred Soliz (Ivan Lendl IJTA Lead Coach) and Eddie Parker (Raintree) will provide elite instruction for attendees. The festival will conclude with a tennis exhibition and clinic by Lendl at Byrd Park on Saturday afternoon. All events are open to the public.

“We’ve identified Richmond as a junior tennis hotbed and encourage local players to come showcase their talent to Ivan and our acclaimed Academy coaches,” says Peter Orrell, President and CEO of Junior Sports Corporation, owner/operator of Ivan Lendl IJTA. “The event offers a taste of how Ivan Lendl IJTA can transform your game by providing the finest in full-time training and academics for juniors of all abilities.”

Ivan Lendl IJTA (grades 5-12) is based on philosophies Lendl followed to become one of the greatest players in tennis history. The Academy focuses daily instruction on classic fundamentals, leading-edge biomechanics, strength training / fitness and mental preparation.

Lendl and his staff subscribe to a hands-on approach with juniors, instilling dedication, focus, hard work, motivation and overall preparation.
