Roland Garros committee member Guy Forget says the French Open should consider giving world No. 5 Rafael Nadal a higher seeding. . .

It looks like Rome is being considered as possible destination for the Fed Cup final between host Italy and Russia. Indoor clay is a strong possibility as a surface. . .

Maria Sharapovahas not played Fed Cup for Russia this year but has yet to rule it out. . .

Roland Garros wild cards are at stake for US players in the coming weeks at a variety of USTA Pro Circuit events. The male and female who wins the highest number of points at those events will earn USTA wild cards into Roland Garros.

 

Alex Kuznetsov won the 2013 Sarasota Open and has taken the early lead for the guys, while Irina Falconi and Alison Rise are tied as both reached the semis of Dothan Pro Classic. Falconi, Riske and fellow American CoCo Vandeweghe, Maria Sanchez and Alexa Glatch lead the charge at this week’s Boyd Tinsley Clay Court Classic in Charlottesville Virginia, while Kuznetsova got a special exempt into this week’s $50,000 Savannah Challenger, where Rhyne Williams and Jack Sock also hope to make some hay. . .

 

Now No. 42Mardy Fish has dropped down to the Challenger level to gets some match play and is the top seed in Savannah. . .

 

Considered one of the US top male prospects, Ryan Harrison is also playing there but he’s been in a slump since January and has seen his ranking drop to No. 100. . .

The surprise sensation of the US vs. Serbia Davis Cup tie, Ilija Bozoljac, won the Sarasota doubles with Somdev Devvarman. . .

 

After defeating Rafael Nadal to win Monte Carlo, Novak Djokovic said that life hasn’t been easy since he won the Australian Open. “This trophy could not come in a better moment for me. It was kind of difficult last two months for me. Been through some ups and downs emotionally, physically. But [now] I’m right in the place.”
