Düsseldorf (pps) – An iron will, great fighting spirit and strong emotions: Every time Mikhail Youzhny steps on court, spectators know they are often in for a great spectacle. His announcement that he will compete at the première of the POWER HORSE CUP (May 19-25, 2013) is good news for tennis fans at the Düsseldorf Rochusclub. “It’ll be my third appearance in Düsseldorf. I’m really looking forward to the tournament and of course I want to win it. However it won’t be easy as I’ll be up against tough opposition,” said the 30-year-old Youzhny from Moscow.
So far, Youzhny has collected eight ATP Tour singles titles, two of which were on clay. In 2002, he supplied the winning point in Russia’s first ever Davis Cup victory. The two-time US Open semifinalist celebrated his last tournament title in Zagreb (Croatia) in February 2012.
With Mikhail Youzny, who has a career-high ATP ranking of No. 8, in the line-up the organisers of the POWER HORSE CUP can present another top international player. Apart from the top Russian, Janko Tipsarevic of Serbia (No. 10), Spain’s clay court specialist Nicolas Almagro (No. 12) and Germany’s top players Philipp Kohlschreiber (No. 21), Florian Mayer (No. 28), Tobias Kamke (No. 82) and Benjamin Becker (No. 95) have already confirmed their participation at the 2013 POWER HORSE CUP in May.
