Sven's Tennis News - Adidas Camp in Las Vegas  |

( Original Story  – http://steffi-graf.net/adidas-camp-in-las-vegas/ )

Spring is almost here! I’ve had the opportunity to be on the tennis court more than usual this year and as a result I’m feeling in better shape than I have in long time. Its been awesome after the cool winter months to be outdoors again, combining tennis and exercise together.

Last month I played in San Jose with Andy Roddick, Lindsay Davenport and Justin Gimblestob in what we hope was an entertaining evening for everyone. And now getting ready for the hard court season, we have had the annual visit of Adidas camp players and coaches in town including Andrea Petkovic, Mónica Puig, Daniela Hantuchova, Sorana Cirstea, Christina McHale and Fernando Verdasco. Under the expertise of coaches Darren Cahill and Sven Groeneveld on the court and Gil Reyes off the court in the gym, the players left Las Vegas looking ready for Indian Wells. I truly enjoyed the time I was able to spend with them – watching their practices and even getting on court here and there.

It was great to see Andrea Petkovic back after meniscus surgery, looking fit and eager to get back on the circuit. I wish her an injury free season!

On the men’s side, a strong comeback by Nadal with wins in Sao Paulo and Acapulco – a long-awaited return by the former world No. 1 after a 7 month injury break. Also in the past few weeks solid wins by Gasquet and Ferrer winning their first tournaments of the year.

It should be another competitive year with Murry looking ready and Djokovic coming off from another win in Dubai last week being undefeated this year.

Similarily for the women, it remains exciting between Williams and Azarenka, who have been taking turns as the No. 1 in the world. But there will be serious competition from players like Li Na, Radwanska, Kerber and the emerging Sloane Stephens.

With the start of Indian Wells this week and Miami to follow, the transition to the clay courts quickly follows with tournaments in Charleston and Monte Carlo before the next Grand Slam.

Hope everybody is ready for the spring tennis season!
