Sven Groeneveld's Blog 3 - Australian Open Updates  |

As I am heading over the site to start day 6 of the tournament! on the 8 am bus for practise sessions with Arantxa Rus and Daniella Hantuchova! Both are out of the tournament but that does not mean that the work is over! Actually that is when it starts all over to prepare for the next events/weeks ahead! This is the perfect time to address the areas of their game that failed during their quest to win their matches here in Australia!

I also want to give you an update on the past days here in Australia!

Melbourne is known for its extreme weather changes and as I walked out it is about 15 degree overcast and some wind! A far cry from the heat we had 2 days ago!

The tournament does everything for players and their entourage to be comfortable in these extreme condition changes! During the day this fridge will be loaded 5 times with 45 cases if water!

For the fan zone they have an incredible amount of water fountains people can fill up their water bottles and have special place to cool of during the 40 degree weather

When you arrive early like we do every day at the event you also get a chance to experience the site a different way!

And may even get lucky when the trophy’s are taken for a walk around the grounds (what purpose this has I have no idea)

The extremes is when it is empty and when the crowds are here!

The environment changes an makes the walk from 1 side of the site to the other a difference of 10 min! These are times you have to take in consideration when you From match court to practise court! ( you don’t want to be late for a warmup)

Besides watching the matches (that is what most people see us do on tv) we actually get also work hard behind th scenes to prepare the players for their matches! This we do in the role of advisor and in addition to their own team! Like pre match warmups

Here with Caroline Wozniacki

It with Sorana with her coach before her match with NA LI on center court!

Today will be busy day once again and very exciting to be on court with Caroline playing Qualifier Tsurenko on Hisense and Ayumi Morita playing Serena Williams on Center court/Rod Laver Arena!

Have a great weekend

Sven
