Former British no.1 women’s player Elena Baltacha has successfully undergone surgery to remove a bone spur in her right ankle and now the 29-year-old will convalesce before deciding on whether to continue with her playing career or concentrate on the tennis academy she has established in her home town of Ipswich .
“If I miss that tennis life and want to get on a plane and give it another go, I will do that,” said Baltacha who hasn’t played since the Olympic Games and has slipped to world no.135. “But, if I decide that I want to dedicate my life to the academy, that’s what I’ll do.”
