Sharapova To Play Kvitova In Serbian Exhibition
Maria Sharapova and Petra Kvitova will finish their 2012 season by facing off at an exhibition in the Czech Republic the day after the finals of the WTA Championships in Istanbul and in the same venue as the Fed Cup finals to be held later that week.
The showdown will take place at 8 PM on Monday, October 29 at the O2 Arena in the Czech capital of Prague.
Sharapova leads their head-to-head meetings 4-2 – including beating her at the Australian and French Open this year — but Czech No.1 Kvitova will be cheered on by a home crowd. “I have had some great matches against Petra this year and we always bring out the best in each other,” said Sharapova. “I always love playing in new venues so I’m looking forward to playing in front of the Czech crowd and to visiting the beautiful city of Prague.”
Kvitova added: “Maria is a great rival for me and has had a fantastic year. It is an honor for me to play her on home turf and I hope lots of people will come to watch us.”
The O2 Arena will also play host to the Fed Cup final between the Czech Republic and Serbia later that week on Saturday and Sunday, November 3-4.
