Marin Cilic believes he is ready to start his charge towards the Wimbledon trophy after a successful week honing his grass-court game at The Boodles.

Cilic won the title at Queen’s last week and was thrilled with way he has kept up his good form with wins this week at Stoke Park. “I have played a couple of matches here against really good players and now I think I’m pretty much ready for Wimbledon,” said the Croatian, who was awarded The Boodles Challenge trophy after beating Juan Monaco of Argentina 4-6, 6-3, 10-1 on a match tiebreaker.

“I have really enjoyed playing here at The Boodles, it was the first time for me and the crowd was really very nice and supportive. I’ll take a couple of days off to gather my thoughts and put everything in place and hopefully I’ll be ready to start on Tuesday.”

Cilic was one of a host of big names competing in a stunning line-up at The Boodles this year, which included reigning Wimbledon champion Novak Djokovic, British hope Andy Murray, Juan Martin Del Potro, John Isner, Stanislas Wawrinka, Fernando Verdasco, Janko Tipsarevic, David Nalbandian, Gilles Simon, Alexandr Dolgopoloc, Ernests Gulbis, Nicolas Almagro, Robin Haase, Albert Ramos, Guillermo Garcia-Lopez and British teenager Oliver Golding.

As well as Cilic versus Monaco in the Championships match, guests on the final day of this year’s tournament were also treated to Haase’s entertaining 6-3, 6-3 win over Almagro before Garcia-Lopez and Ramos rounded off a memorable week with an all-Spanish joust. Garcia-Lopez won the very last point of the tournament when he defeated Ramos 7-5, 6-4.

As well as providing compelling tennis on Stoke Park’s centre court, many of the players also took time out to chat to guests in the Players Enclosure and all of them chatted amiably after matches to The Boodles MC’s Natalie Pinkham and Zoe Hardman.

The Boodles 2013 will be held 18-22 June. Until 15th July tickets for the 2013 tournament can be purchased at 2012 prices.
