The 2012 French Open, Roland Garros is the second tennis major of the season. The tournament, played entirely on red clay, showcases the best players in the world as a Grand Slam event. The 2012 French Open start time is 5:00 am EST Sunday and it will be televised nationally on ESPN2. The TV schedule for the 2012 French Open starts at 5 a.m. on ESPN2 and runs until 10 a.m. It will also be broadcast live on ESPN3.com

Currently, the first scheduled match to be televised will be sixth-seeded Samantha Stosur taking on Elena Baltacha. Stosur is a heavy favorite in that contest as a -2500 moneyline (Risk $2,500 to win $100). The odds for Stosur mean she has a 96.15 percent chance to win the match and advance to the second round. In addition to Stosur, other notable players that will take to the courts on Sunday include Andy Roddick, Juan Martin Del Potro, Venus Williams and Ana Ivanovic.

The French Open is often referred to as Roland Garros and is named after the famous French aviator Roland Garros, The event will take place over two weeks overall between Sunday and the second week of June in Paris, France. The French Open is played at the stde Roland Garros and is considered by most tennis fans, broadcasters and players as the premier clay court event in the world. It’s still currently the only of the four major tournaments that is played on clay.

Roland-Garros – the French Open – can boast exceptional international coverage. In 2011, no fewer than 137 channels in 178 countries broadcast 11 615 hours of dedicated coverage, of which over 69% was live. In 2012, France Televisions, the historic broadcast partner of Roland-Garros, will maintain extensive coverage on its three channels (France 2, France 3 and France 4) from 11am until end of play every day, to which will be added regular magazine programmes throughout the fortnight.
