“10s Whenever”

Newsletter, Vol. 67

15 April 2012

For all of the young tennis players competing at the Easter Bowl, those who made it to the end faced their last day of challenges in the desert today. Of course the competition was fierce and so was the playing at the USTA event. And wow many are still surprised by the success of the U.S. team in the Davis Cup this year. They have done very well and it seems like U.S. tennis is really beginning to step it up a notch, but all the while the Serbs, Britts, Swiss, and Spanish remain kings on the courts. Sara Errani captured the Barcelona Ladies Open title in Spain today really tearing it up on the clay courts. And as always please forward our newsletter to your tennis loving friends, just in case you haven’t already done so.

TEAM USA SEEING RED (CLAY, THAT IS…)

By Kristen Tracy
When the draw for the 2012 Davis Cup was released, many Team USA fans cringed when they saw who the first opponent was. Not only were they facing Roger Federer and Team Switzerland, but they were set to play in Swiss territory on a surface that had never been the kindest to the Americans – red clay. It was a battle many thought had already been decided, but Team USA had other plans. In what was a surprise to many, the American team came out swinging – and closed out day one with a 2-0 lead. Both Mardy Fish and John Isner had pulled off impressive five-set wins against Stanislas Wawrinka and Roger Federer, respectively. [Read More]

Hall of Fame , Newport Rhode Island. ……or is it Heartbreak Hall ? Ask Nick ….

Hall of Fame or Hall of shame. Like what a shame? What a pity? What a system. ? What system ? The how you arrive on the podium system …. The induction is beautiful. The acceptance speeches are stuff for the history books. But the other goings on can break your heart. I call tiebreakers heartbreakers. Well guess what folks. Most of all that comes from Newport Rhode Island James a.k.a. Jimmy Van Allen gave us both the tiebreaker and he was the godfather of the Hall of Fame at the Newport ” casino ” [Read More]

Allie Kiick Final Blog From Easter Bowl

Hello again! :)
This will be my final blog for the wonderful 2012 easter bowl. I know all you are sad, but hopefully I will be blogging more about my other fun experiences at
other tournaments. Anyways, I have a lot to talk about this time and I finally have a decent amount of time to write and vent to you guys.
Today I lost in three sets to Brooke Austin. It wasn’t one of my better days but Brooke played a great match. Unfortunately, I was unable to get my usual breakfast of nutella and pancakes this morning due to the time I played, which ended up taking me out of my groove. [Read More]

Ronnie Schneider Blog #3 – Easter Bowl

Hello again everyone,
I am sorry to say that I am now sitting at the Ontario airport waiting for my flight home. I lost a heartbreaker in my quarterfinals 7-5 in the third. I fought back well from being down in each set, but in the end, it just wasn’t enough.
Sitting here, I am getting game by game updates about my fellow Hoosier, Brooke Austin, who is in the finals and just split sets. Hopefully she can bring a title back to Indy! I would like to give a big thanks for everyone involved in running the Easter Bowl. [Read More]
