Singles – Second Round: (1) D Ferrer def. L Kubot 6-3 6-3
The points don’t count yet for David Ferrer, but he is the only seed left in the top half, so he has a real opportunity to change that.

Singles – Second Round: (2) N Almagro def. B Paire 3-6 6-3 6-4
One more win might well take Nicolas Almagro back to #11.

Singles – Second Round: J Chardy def. (4) K Nishikori 1-6 7-6(10-8) 6-0
A disturbing scoreline — the good news for Kei Nishikori is that he won’t have to deal with clay for another month. The bad news is, of course, that he didn’t earn enough points to budge his ranking, plus he looked bad at the end.

Singles – Second Round: P Andujar def. (5) F Mayer 4-6 7-5 6-4
Pablo Andujar rises to around #45, but Florian Mayer won’t move above his current #18.

Singles – Second Round: (8) F Verdasco def. J Chela 6-4 6-2
Just in time for the two big American hardcourt events, Fernando Verdasco seems finally to have found himself. He hasn’t really moved yet, but he has blocked Juan Ignacio Chela’s Top Thirty hopes.

Singles – Second Round: C Berlocq def. P Starace 6-1 6-4
No question now: Carlos Berlocq is Top Forty.

Singles – Second Round: S Giraldo def. (7) M Granollers 6-4 6-3
Maybe Santiago Giraldo is coming out of his slump. He costs Marcel Granollers his Top 25 chance.

Singles – Second Round: S Wawrinka def. A Ramos 6-3 3-6 6-3
It appears this will put Stanislas Wawrinka back in the Top 25.

Doubles – First Round: (4) Bracciali/Cabal def. Bellucci/Melo 7-6(7-3) 7-5

Doubles – First Round: (4) Chardy/Simon def. (2) S Gonzalez/Kas 7-6(8-6) 6-4

Doubles – First Round: (4) (4) Bracciali/Cabal def. Bellucci/Melo 7-6(7-3) 7-5

Doubles – First Round: (4) Chela/Schwank def. (Alt) Machado/Riba 6-2 5-7 10-8 (Match TB)
