*Blasting Off at the Open*

Date: 18 January 2012

The New “Indian Express” has moved onto the second round of the Australian Open, but got off with a rough start. On the other hand it’s been smooth sailing so far for Mahesh Bhupathi’s former teammate Leander Paes with his 6-2, 6-2 win. The Fed’s been goin at it hard, looking forward to his title chances. On wednesday he was granted a walkover into the third round. It seems all that r & r Djokovic had leading up to the tournament is paying off–he’s a man on fire serving like a beast! Huge fan favorite Rafael Nadal had a little difficulty securing his place in the third round but he managed with a 6-4, 6-3, 6-4 win over former world No.2 Tommy Haas. Frenchman Jo-Wilfried Tsonga is also onto the third round while wonder kid Milos Raonic is also after a long grueling match that lasted a whopping 4 sets.

Before I began the description of recent matches I want you to hold a question in mind—In your opinion who has a better shot at the Olympics, Mahesh Bhupathi or Leander Paes?

The New “Indian Express” is at it again taking down their first set of opponents at their Australian Open debut. On Wednesday January 18 the fourth-seeded teammates, Rohan Bopanna and Mahesh Bhupathi, defeated Australians, Matthew Ebden and Chris Guccione, 5-7, 6-4, 6-4. [Read More]

5 Setters at the Aussie, Mardy Fish Upset!!!

There was some high drama over at the Aussie between Isner/Nalbandian and Dolgopolov/Kamke. Both matches went into extra innings (which we aren’t surprised anymore when we’re talking about Isner). Isner clinched his match 10-8 whereas Dolgopolov squeaked by 8-6. I personally love it when the men play 5 setters. It’s great to see dominance and high quality play, it’s another thing to see a Slam match go the distance. [Read More]
