Hopman Cup Interview with Li Na  |

5th January 2012

A great week for Li Na – three singles matches, three wins. Li great to have you back up here again.

Thank you.

Congratulations and another very nice result for you this evening.

I mean today was another story. I was played her before, she was playing more aggressive on the court. I don’t know why today she had a lot of mistakes on the court. I was happy I can win the match finally.

Do you feel like your game is improving throughout the week, which is the aim here I guess.

I think now after three matches, I think much better than last year the second season. So now I was feeling my confidence was coming back and yeah, looking forward for the Australian Open.

And where do you move on to from here – are you off the Sydney?

Yeah I will go Sydney.

So the defending champion there – you’ll get another very warm reception there no doubt.

Yeah I mean I would like to say thanks for the Australian fans, I was feeling more warm here. After this is another story because its Australia vs China, but I would like to say thanks a lot for the fans.

The Australian fans love having you here. Off to Sydney and then the Australian Open. You made the final there last year, you won the first set. Are you pretty confident with the way things are going leading into that big Grand Slam tournament?

Yeah I mean first time in final in Australian Open, so after I win first I think ‘oh maybe I can take the trouble’ but it’s not, I know it’s just one more step. I think the final gave me a lot of experience so that’s why. In the French open, final, before the match I would think about ‘ok, the worst thing is I get another second if I didn’t win the match’, but finally I got it. So I think Australian Open for me was more important because after I come to a final I think I have more confidence. I believe in myself that I can win a Grand Slam title.

A lot of people are hoping you are in the Australian Open final again this year. Thank you very much and congratulations.
