Final Facts
– Azarenka wins her eighth WTA title (she is now 8-7 in WTA finals); it is her third WTA title of the year (after winning Miami and Marbella back-to-back in the spring).
– Azarenka didn’t lose a set en route to the title this week (her closest set came in the second set of her 62 64 first round win over Barbora Zahlavova Strycova).
– Niculescu was playing in her first WTA final; she had gone to three sets in three of her four rounds before the final (incl. being down match point in the first round).
– Benesova and Zahlavova Strycova win their ninth WTA doubles title together (they won one in 2008, one in 2009, three last year and now four this year).
– Benesova now has 13 WTA doubles titles to her name; Zahlavova Strycova now has 15.
