All-Star Game

Ambiance - Opening Ceremony  |

All-Star game…. Hey suits how come we don’t have one of those either? … No super bowl. Or a… Super Bowl weekend… No All-Star game…  Or All-Star weekend…. We have stars. We have super stars!!  We have some of the finest athletes on the planet!!! Personalities come out in these relaxed atmospheres… We could have an All-Star game in team tennis format…. Fun…. Mixed dubs. Dunk contests could be tricks with spinning rackets, ball tricks or hitting targets. Like the skills competition…… Our Number ones. Rafa and sweet Caroline. Roger and Ana Ivanovic. Milos Raonic and Rebecca Marino. Novak bounce, bounce Djokovic and Elena Jankovic. These teams are just jumping into my mind… Cirstea Sorana and Fernando Verdasco. Andy Murray and Elena Baltacha. Kim Clijsters and Xavier Malisse. Andy Roddick and Serena Williams. Max Mirnyi and Venus Williams. Maria Sharapova and John Isner…. Sounds like fun….

Black history month. We need to applaud Mal Washington and his entire family. James Blake and the Blake family. Venus and Serena Williams et al…You’ve all made great strides in helping pave the way for America’s future in the African American community…

It is black history month. We mentioned Arthur Ashe. We could write for years about Arthur’s accomplishments in such a relatively short life. We need to mention that in 1969 he and fellow Davis cupper Eugene L. Scott formed the NJTL. National Junior Tennis League. It’s still the grassroots program nationally for kids in city parks…. More on Gene Scott another time… My mentor…

All-Star weekend…. We have two new stars. Both from Canada! Milos Raonic and Rebecca Marino. Both young. Twenty. Both tall. Both have star power and big games. Beautiful to see.
The Koz has posted some great interviews from Memphis. Check them out. He had a video chat with Andy Roddick, Mardy Fish, and Rebecca Marino. Thanks Koz. You are a super friend to tennis. :)
Mexico. Crime. Mexico. Danger. Mexico. How could the suits not cancel the event? … Personally. I’d pass on playing… My shoulder feels sore thinking about it…

TENNIS GOSSIP FROM THE 2018 U.S. OPEN • WTA | ATP • FEDERER HAS PLAYED 1,424 MATCHES WITHOUT A “RETIREMENT”

The only way to describe this U.S. open is soaking wet without raining... It's really hard to play tennis when your socks are soaking wet and you are "sloshing" in your shoes. Your shoes get really heavy when they get wet.
