Davis Cup Doubles Day  |

Davis cup doubles. Today’s match between France and Serbia featured a fantastic doubles match…Dwight Davis would have been proud. 10sballs.com just wrote about the “suits” who changed the doubles scoring for the worse…to see it proved again by today’s match. As much as I loved every match the Tennis Channel showed us from the O2 arena and year-end ATP championships, none compared to today’s match. They were all over as fast as they started. Today’s match was awesome for all five regularly scored sets. Luck didn’t factor in. No deciding which of the two receivers might take that last game point…no fake third set. 10sballs.com says: fix the doubles scoring!
Tennis Channel is doing a great job covering the finals. Sunday’s matches are going to be great. How awesome for a country like Serbia to host this Davis cup…sure better than the war torn country the Serbian players grew up in.
Heard from Norman Bunyard.  His duties at the O2 arena are over but he’s been left with a cold. Feel better soon. He told me about a practice court that the O2 arena had set up for the public to view the players. Norman relayed how cold the London conditions were but that so many players made the fans happy.

London is an interesting town regarding tickets for tennis; it’s a long story but basically tickets to Wimbledon are hard to acquire. You stand in line or a queue as the Brits say. Either way. It’s almost impossible for tennis fans or a regular “Joe ” to go see tennis. So when the year-end finals came to London they pretty much found a permanent home that will always sell out. The event was awesome, and again kudos to all…
Heard from the lovely Caroline Arthurs—wife of Auzzie great Wayne Arthurs. Yes the guy who won the Tennis Channel Open, Wayne Arthurs…or the same Wayne Arthurs that had one of the top ten all time serves.  He is one damn fine mate. And Wayno we owe you cases of Corona!! The Arthurs of Melbourne (formally the Arthurs of Wimbledon) attended a beautiful black tie affair at the Melbourne tennis center last night (the John Newcombe medal?).  Most of the great Auzzies were there. Caro said the event was beautiful and heaps of fun. Sam Stosur was the  big winner of the night…she was awarded athlete of the year. Some of those also attending include: Tony Roche, John Newcombe. Wally Masur, Brian Tobin, the great Frank Sedgeman, great doubles player Todd Woodbridge, Sandon Stolle. Paul Hanley, and Scott Draper.
Thinking Christmas gifts for the tennis players in your world. How about Solinco strings? A great stocking stuffer or Ben Press book on Hotel del Coronado. But my personal favorite is Roger Federer’s calendar. Available on his website. All proceeds go to his foundation…Roger Federer foundation.

The only way to describe this U.S. open is soaking wet without raining... It's really hard to play tennis when your socks are soaking wet and you are "sloshing" in your shoes. Your shoes get really heavy when they get wet.
