The Twin factor

Not only do Bob and Mike Bryan get to spend all day, every day together, they get to do it winning. The twins have won a whole heap of silverware this year, and today they picked up the ATP World Tour year-end No.1 doubles ranking too. Some people have it all.

Celeb watch

You guessed it…..Mr Maradona was here again today, but so was another footballing hero (allegedly), Arsenal and Russia’s Andrey Arshavin. Wonder what he thought of the whole shebang.

Clothes maketh the man

Top British female Anne Keothavong has been giving her opinion on some of the attire sported by the blokes this week. Finding issue with Robin Soderling’s neon yellow, she described Andy Murray’s effort as decidedly ‘pringle-esque’, comparing his gear to a golfer’s sweater. Surprisingly though, she couldn’t find fault with Rafael Nadal’s (lack of ) colour coordination, tweeting: “Rafa can wear whatever he likes, he’s got the swagger to pull it off.”

Finding lost items

It almost looked as though Andy Murray would be treating us to another lacklustre performance when he found himself trailing David Ferrer 0-2 in their opening exchanges. But out of nowhere, the Scot reclaimed his serve and return, winning six games on the trot to take the set, and send himself into the semi-finals. He finished up 6-2, 6-2, re-locating something else as well, his fist pump.

You can’t win them all

Roger Federer was asked if he minded that he didn’t win Swiss Sports Personality of the Year last year, the year that he overtook Pete Sampras’ record of Grand Slam singles titles. The answer is no. “The other guy won two Olympic golds in ski jumping. That’s probably going to do the trick for him.”
