Rafael Nadal ended Roger Federer’s six-year run as winner of the Stefan Edberg Sportsmanship award, which is voted on by his fellow players.

But Federer edged Nadal as the ATPWorldTour.com Fans’ Favorite singles player presented by Ricoh. The Swiss star won the award for a record eighth consecutive year, winning 47 percent of the vote, while Nadal finished with 42 percent.

Nadal also finished the year at the ATP World Tour No. 1, having won seven titles, including three consecutive Grand Slam tournament crowns. At 24 years, 3 months, Nadal became the youngest man in the Open Era and seventh man overall to complete a career Grand Slam. He also became the first man to win three ATP World Tour Masters 1000 clay court titles in the same season: Monte Carlo, Rome and Madrid.

American twins Bob and Mike Bryan, who finished as the ATP World Tour No. 1 Doubles Team for a record sixth time in eight years, won the ATPWorldTour.com Fans’ Favorite Doubles Team for the sixth straight year with 44 percent of the votes. Daniel Nester of Canada and Nenad Zimonjic of Serbia finished second, while Rohan Bopanna of India and Aisam Ul-Haq Qureshi of Pakistan were third in the balloting.

The Arthur Ashe Humanitarian of the Year award went to Bopanna and Qureshi. The “Indo-Pak Express” is seeking to build a bridge of friendship between their respective countries with their motto ‘Stop War, Start Tennis’. Qureshi was recently named a United Nations Goodwill Ambassador.

In other awards voted by ATP players, Audrey Golubev of Kazakhstan was named Most Improved Player of the Year; Tobias Kamke of Germany was named Newcomer of the Year; and Robin Haase of the Netherlands was voted Comeback Player of the Year.
