The Barclays ATP World Tour Finals singles field visited British Prime Minister David Cameron at No. 10 Downing Street today for a reception ahead of their participation at the world’s biggest indoor tennis tournament, to be held at The O2 in London from 21-28 November.

Rafael Nadal, Roger Federer, Novak Djokovic, Robin Soderling, Andy Murray, Tomas Berdych, David Ferrer and Andy Roddick posed for a group photo with Mr. Cameron outside No. 10, the official residence and office of the Prime Minister, before heading inside for a private reception.

Prime Minister David Cameron said: “It’s fantastic that the ATP World Tour Finals tournament is back in London for the second year running. It’s great for London and great for the country. I am 100% behind Britain hosting high profile sporting events such as this. With the Olympics, the Rugby Union and Rugby League World Cups, the Cricket World Cup and hopefully the FIFA World Cup all taking place here over the next few years, this is an exciting time for sport in the UK and a great opportunity to build a tremendous sporting legacy.

“I hope that seeing the world’s top players compete right on our doorstep, including Britain’s very own Andy Murray, will inspire our next generation of sporting heroes.”

British favourite Andy Murray said: “It’s the second time I’ve been here. It was nice. He [David Cameron] likes tennis, which we knew beforehand. We spoke about tennis and some of the past players. It was good fun, I really enjoyed it.”

The Barclays ATP World Tour Finals, contested by the top eight singles players and doubles teams in the world, begins on Sunday, 21 November, with Andy Murray to face Robin Soderling in the first Group B singles match. Murray and Soderling are joined in Group B by four-time former champion Roger Federer and 2007 finalist David Ferrer. Group A comprises World No. 1 Rafael Nadal, 2008 champion Novak Djokovic, debutant Tomas Berdych and eight-time qualifier Andy Roddick.
