California’s own Tesla has been added to the lineup for “KLOS Rocking the Net Starring Bret Michaels” to benefit the Southern California Tennis Association (SCTA) on Monday, August 2.

The concert will be held at the LA Tennis Center one day after the conclusion of the 2010 Farmers Classic ATP World Tour and Olympus US Open Series tennis tournament.

Tesla’s six albums have sold more than 16 million copies. In addition, 23 of the band’s songs have become charted hits. Influenced by the blues, heavy metal and hard rock genres, the band’s 1990 release of “Five Man Acoustical Jam” set the stage a wave of unplugged performances by rock bands.

In addition to touring in 2010, Telsa has been back in the studio working on recording a new album.

Tesla will join Bret Michaels on the bill for “KLOS Rocking the Net.” Michaels was the front man for the band “Poison,” and sold 25 million records and scored 15 Top 40 singles with that band.

Recently, Michaels starred in “Rock of Love,” one of the most successful programs in VH1 history, and he was the winner of NBC’s “Celebrity Apprentice” this past season. “Custom Built,” the fourth solo album of Michaels’ career, will be released on July 6.

Proceeds from “KLOS Rocking the Net Starring Bret Michaels” will benefit the youth tennis programs of the SCTA. Tickets are on sale now through TicketMaster.

“KLOS Rocking the Net Starring Bret Michaels” and featuring Tesla is the second of two concerts hosted at the LA Tennis Center around the Farmers Classic. Keith Urban and the Avett Brothers will perform on Friday, July 23, as part of the Starry Night Benefit Concert Presented by the GRAMMY Foundation.

On Saturday, July 24, Andre Agassi and John McEnroe will return to the LA Tennis Center as part of Stars Under the Stars, an evening of tennis and entertainment to benefit the Andre Agassi Foundation for Education.

World No. 3 Novak Djokovic, the 2008 Australian Open champion, 2007 LA finalist James Blake and defending Farmers Classic champions Sam Querrey and the Bryan Brothers headline the early commitments for the tournament that will be held July 26 – August 1

ESPN2 will broadcast eight hours of live coverage of this year’s tournament, including singles quarterfinal, semifinal and championship matches. Tennis Channel will again provide significant additional broadcast coverage, including singles quarterfinal and doubles championship matches.

Ticket information for the 2010 Farmers Classic and the associated special events can be found at www.FarmersClassic.com or by calling 310-824-1010, ext. 251.
