In the 2014 Davis Cup first round, the United States had the benefit of home-court advantage against Great Britain. It was all right there for the Americans to advance, having put the visitors out of their comfort zone on a clay surface.
The USTA and United States Davis Cup Captain Jim Courier today announced that top-ranked American and world No. 20 John Isner, world No. 45 Donald Young, and the world’s No. 1 doubles team of Bob Bryan and Mike Bryan will represent the U.S. in the 2015 Davis Cup by BNP Paribas World Group First Round against Great Britain.
The Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) has today confirmed the team to contest the Davis Cup by BNP Paribas World Group tie against the USA that will take place from 6-8 March 2015 at the Emirates Arena in Glasgow.
The United States took a commanding 2-0 lead over Argentina in the World Group II First Round in Buenos Aires after Serena Williams and Venus Williams both won their matches on Saturday in straight sets.
The United States will face Argentina in the Fed Cup by BNP Paribas World Group II First Round on an outdoor red clay court at the Pilara Tennis Club in Buenos Aires. Play begins Saturday at 11:00 am local time (9:00 am ET).
At least it looks as if the Russians will soon be out of their misery. As soon as the teams were announced, it was obvious that the Russians would be overmatched by Australia, but the actual contest was more sad than anything else.

Serena Williams today confirmed she has withdrawn from Australian Open 2011, according to a news release from the tournament organisers.
